Private Jet Overshoots Runway at Ibadan Airport

In a concerning incident, a private jet carrying about 10 individuals, including Very Important Personalities (VIPs), overshot the runway at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident occurred around 11 am on Friday, with the jet, registered as N580KR, veering off the runway and into a nearby bush.

Immediate response efforts were initiated, with firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) swiftly deployed to the scene.

Fortunately, no fatalities or casualties were reported. The jet, originating from Abuja, landed safely but experienced difficulty in stopping within the designated runway limits.

Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) spokesperson Carol Adekotujo confirmed the incident, emphasizing that there were no casualties.

Tunji Oketunmbi, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), affirmed that a team had been dispatched to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the overshooting.

The incident adds to a string of aviation concerns in recent months, despite changes in leadership within aviation agencies.
