Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims across the state as they begin the sacred observance of Ramadan, urging them to pray for the continued peace, unity, and prosperity of Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill, Governor Otu described Ramadan as a time for deep spiritual renewal, introspection, self-discipline, and acts of generosity. He called on Muslims to embrace the opportunity for self-rededication to values of compassion, forgiveness, and mercy.
“The holy month of Ramadan offers a precious moment for fasting, reflection, and charity,” Governor Otu said. “I encourage all Muslims to use this period to pray to Allah for the continued unity and stability of our beloved Nigeria, where peace, justice, and harmony prevail.”
He also emphasized the importance of extending kindness and support to those in need, urging the faithful to reach out to the less fortunate, the vulnerable, and the marginalized. “As we embark on this blessed month, let us remember to uplift others with generosity and empathy,” the Governor added.
Governor Otu concluded by wishing all Muslims a peaceful, fulfilling, and spiritually rewarding Ramadan. He reassured them of his unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where the spirit of the season is felt by all, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds.
