Real Madrid’s Camavinga sidelined with hamstring injury

The Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury during the team’s 5-2 victory over Celta Viga in the Copa del Rey, the team said on Friday.

“Eduardo Camavinga has been diagnosed with a left hamstring injury based on tests conducted today. “We’ll evaluate his recuperation,” the European champions said in a statement.

The 22-year-old French international’s injury is another blow, having already been sidelined with a left knee problem at the start of the season.

Camavinga’s injury comes at a bad time for Real Madrid, who are 20th in the Champions League table and not assured of advancing to the knockout phase before hosting Salzburg on Wednesday.

Real are second in La Liga, one point behind city rivals Atletico, before this weekend’s game at home against Las Palmas.
