Rema donates N105m to Christ Embassy Church

Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, widely recognized as Rema, recently made headlines with a generous donation of N105 million to Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State. The donation, which took place during a Sunday service, highlights Rema’s commitment to giving back to the community that has supported him throughout his career.

Rema’s act of philanthropy was deeply rooted in his personal experiences and gratitude. In a heartfelt message captured in a viral video, he emphasized that his donation was not about seeking accolades or personal glory but about honoring God and acknowledging the church’s pivotal role in his life. He articulated a profound sense of responsibility to give back, reflecting on how the church has embraced and prayed for him, providing spiritual consistency that has been crucial to his success.

The breakdown of Rema’s donation was both substantial and thoughtful. He pledged N40 million towards the church’s infrastructure, recognizing the need for development and enhancement of the church’s facilities. An additional N20 million was allocated to Rhapsody of Realities, underscoring his support for the church’s outreach and educational programs. Furthermore, Rema made a significant pledge of N25 million to improve the infrastructure of the teens’ church, reflecting his appreciation for the church’s role in his formative years. Finally, he dedicated N20 million to support widows within the church, demonstrating his compassion and commitment to assisting those in need.

During his address, he recounted a poignant chapter of his childhood when he lost his father at the age of eight. The church’s support during this challenging period was instrumental for his family. He recalled how Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas had opened a shop for his mother, which provided essential support and helped them navigate through their difficulties. This act of kindness left a lasting impression on Rema, shaping his desire to give back to the institution that played a critical role in his family’s recovery.

In addition to his generous donation, Rema’s visit to Benin was marked by the anticipation of his homecoming concert. Arriving in his hometown on Tuesday, Rema was accompanied by music producer Collins Michael, also known as Don Jazzy, and the Mavin crew, all of whom showed support for the upcoming concert. The visit also included a significant cultural moment as Rema was honored with a royal plaque by the Oba of Benin at his palace, further highlighting the deep connection between the artist and his roots.
