Retirement Benefits: Ex-NSCDC Officers Demand Equity Among Security Agencies
The Nigeria Association of Retired Civil Defence Officers (NARCDO) believes a retirement and pension plan should be instituted to guarantee a level playing field between the NSCDC and other security agencies of government.
It’s against this background that the Chairman of the Association, Deputy Commandant-General (DCG) Evans Ewurum has appealed to the Federal Government to review the retirement benefits of officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
A Statement by Danjuma Elisha (rtd), the NARCDO PRO, notes that Ewurum made the appeal during the inauguration of a 13-member committee saddled with the responsibility to establish an operational plan for the smooth running of NARCDO.
“The association is an appendage of the NSCDC and has been assigned specific and well-defined functions of managing the affairs, activities, post service life and living conditions of retired NSCDC officers nationwide.
“The inaugurated committee is to midwife the effective take-off of the association which was established to primarily cater for the welfare and well-being of its members.
“They are to plan and coordinate actions and activities aimed at producing a blueprint that will lead to a very successful fundraising for the association’s operation,” the Chairman said.
He further directed the newly set up committee to turn in its preliminary report in two weeks while charging the committee and other members of the association to be absolutely committed to their designated assignment.
The DCG (rtd) applauded the NSCDC boss, Ahmed Audi, for single handedly creating an enabling environment for the association to kick-off by providing a properly furnished rented office accommodation for the association.
The chairman congratulated the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike for his developmental strides since his appointment as he appealed for land allocation to enable NARCDO construct a permanent office.
