Revealed: Liverpool ‘Agreed £169M’ Deal For Mbappe Before Real Madrid Move

Before Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid, it is said that Liverpool made a major effort to entice him to Anfield from Paris Saint-Germain.

Although the France international has previously been linked to the Reds, the move was thought to be extremely unlikely given his huge contract and the possible transfer fee.

The primary Premier League team connected to Mbappe as his tenure at PSG came to an end was Liverpool. But Real Madrid appeared to be the front-runner to sign him for nothing when it came to a free transfer.

Rather than paying a massive transfer fee, the La Liga giants opted to wait and sign Mbappe for free. Over the summer, Real Madrid confirmed the 25-year-old’s arrival.

According to L’Equipe, as reported by Football 365, Liverpool made an offer for Mbappe in 2022 worth €200 million (£169 million), and the France international had ‘agreed’ to the transfer.

However, PSG’s then-director, Antero Henrique, demanded €400 million, which the Reds were unable to meet.

Mbappe scored on his debut in Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup.

Although he initially struggled in his first three La Liga games for Los Blancos, failing to score, the Frenchman bounced back in his fourth game before the international break, scoring twice as Carlo Ancelotti’s side defeated Real Betis 2-0.
