Rivers Government Announces Commissioning Of 10-Day Project

The Rivers State Government has unveiled plans to embark on an ambitious 10-day commissioning of key infrastructure projects, signaling its unwavering commitment to development despite recent political tensions.

The announcement comes just a day after the Supreme Court’s ruling, which barred the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from releasing federal allocations to the state and nullified the results of the recently held local government elections.

Amidst the political storm, the Siminalayi Fubara administration is standing firm on its development agenda, reaffirming its dedication to driving progress across critical sectors.

The 10-day initiative, starting Monday, March 3, 2025, will see the unveiling of transformative projects in housing, security, fire service, healthcare, education, and judicial welfare, benefiting both Rivers State and parts of neighboring Bayelsa State.

The projects will be spread across key locations, including Port Harcourt City, Obio/Akpor, Khana, and Okrika LGAs, with the inaugural event setting the stage for the state’s forward-thinking approach to sustainable development.

Commissioner for Information, Joe Johnson, emphasized that the initiatives align with Governor Fubara’s vision for long-term growth, improved public service delivery, and enhanced security.

“The upcoming commissioning is a reflection of the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and creating a better quality of life for our citizens,” Johnson said. “We urge all stakeholders, from community leaders to government officials, to join us in celebrating these remarkable achievements.”

Here’s a look at the timeline of the eagerly anticipated projects, slated to run from March 3 through 14:

  • March 3 – Government House Staff Quarters, PHALGA
  • March 4 – State Fire Service Headquarters & Firefighting Vehicles, PHALGA
  • March 5 – Helicopter Handover to the Nigerian Air Force, Obio/Akpor

This unprecedented initiative underscores the administration’s resolve to not only sustain but elevate the state’s development trajectory, focusing on critical sectors that directly impact the lives of Rivers State citizens. The government has invited the public to actively participate and celebrate these landmark milestones, as they mark the beginning of a new chapter for the state’s infrastructure and service delivery.
