Rivers State Governor Fubara Urges Supporters to Stay Resolute Amid Political Turmoil

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on his supporters to remain steadfast as the state navigates through its current political challenges. Speaking on Tuesday, Governor Fubara reassured his followers that the ongoing crisis will eventually be resolved.

Governor Fubara made these remarks during an address to the House of Representatives Committee on Ports and Harbours, which visited him at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital. He expressed his appreciation to the committee for their efforts to upgrade the Port Harcourt and Onne Ports, as well as the Bonny Channel.

During his address, Governor Fubara also touched on the recent protest by women from Ipo, a community that hosts the International Airport. He conveyed optimism about finding a resolution to the issues between the community and the airport management. The governor highlighted that he has already convened a meeting with community stakeholders and the airport’s management to address their concerns.

The community’s grievances stem from the lack of inclusion of their indigenes in a recent recruitment exercise by the airport authority, which hired about 50 new staff members. Additionally, the community has been pushing for the implementation of corporate social responsibility initiatives by the airport management.
