Ruggedman Opens Up About His Decision to Remain Single and Childless

Nigerian rapper and activist, Michael Stephens, better known as Ruggedman, has shared his thoughts on not being married or having children yet, revealing that he made a conscious decision in his younger years to not have a child outside of wedlock.
During a recent televised interview, the 51-year-old rapper discussed his personal journey, reflecting on his vow to wait until marriage to have children. “I am not married and do not have a child yet. When I was much younger, I vowed never to have a child out of wedlock. Sometimes, I wonder whether I made the right or wrong decision. But still, it takes a lot from both parties. You have to do it with someone you really love,” he shared.
Ruggedman also spoke candidly about his past relationships, revealing that he had once planned to marry a particular woman, but their engagement was interrupted by the arrival of a wealthy suitor, who was ultimately able to separate them. “There was a particular lady I was supposed to marry, but a wealthy man came into the picture, and her mother separated us,” he recalled.
In a 2021 interview, the rapper mentioned that neither his mother nor other family members had been pressuring him to settle down, even as he entered his 40s. He made it clear that he would marry when he felt ready, remaining firm in his belief that marriage is a personal decision that should happen at the right time.
