Sahara Group Advocates Bold Action for Africa’s Energy Future

Africa needs bold, immediate interventions driven by innovation, collaboration, and equity to accelerate the continent’s journey toward energy security and sustainable development, according to Wale Ajibade, Executive Director at global energy and infrastructure conglomerate Sahara Group.

Ahead of the African Refiners & Distributors Association (ARDA) Week 2025, Ajibade called for the adoption of actionable strategies that will help Africa achieve universal energy access, address critical infrastructure gaps, and support an energy transition aligned with the continent’s developmental goals.

Sahara Group’s delegation to ARDA 2025, scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from May 7–11, 2025, will be led by Ajibade. The delegation will include Alex Cole, Director at Sahara Group, Nomnso Dike, CEO of Asharami Synergy (a Sahara Group Downstream Company), and Tolu Fadipe, Sahara Group General Counsel, among others.

Themed “Africa First: Delivering Our Energy Future,” the conference will provide an opportunity for Sahara and other stakeholders to drive collective action aimed at “bringing energy to life responsibly for all Africans, leaving no one behind,” according to Bethel Obioma, Head of Corporate Communications at Sahara Group.

Obioma emphasized that Sahara Group’s speaking delegation will stress the importance of Africa taking a leading role in its pursuit of energy security.
