Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has vowed his administration is committed to consistently empowering residents of the state in order to create an inclusive and prosperous society.
Sanwo-Olu made the remark during the Y2024 Micro Enterprise Support Initiative (MESI) Programme organised by Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) on Wednesday in Ikeja, Lagos.
At the event, socio-economically disadvantaged women and indigent youths of various skills acquisition centres in the Lagos State received empowerment tools/equipment like tilling machines, shawarma grillers and toasters, fabricating machines, sewing machines, basic barbing kit with sterilising kit and generators, hair dressing equipment, among others, as poverty alleviating gesture from the state government.
He commended the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Cecilia Dada, and her team for their tireless effort in ensuring that the empowerment programme continues to gain momentum, reaching every nook of the society and making sure that no one is left behind.
Sanwo-Olu congratulated beneficiaries of the programme, who received items to improve their trades and urged them to make judicious use of the opportunity and resources.
