Sanwo-Olu suspends aide, Ajetunmobi over misrepresentation of facts

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Wale Ajetunmobi, following a misrepresentation of facts on his personal “X” (formerly Twitter) account regarding a past incident.

The suspension was announced in a statement on Tuesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.

According to Akosile, Ajetunmobi’s suspension was due to his erroneous post, in which he claimed that the arsonists responsible for burning down a TV station in Lagos during the 2020 #EndSARS protests had been “hunted down and executed.”

Ajetunmobi further alleged that one of the individuals executed was a young boy, who he claimed traded in cooking gas around the Ketu area and was found with an AK-47 rifle.

The Governor’s spokesperson, Akosile, emphasized that Sanwo-Olu’s administration strongly condemns any form of extrajudicial punishment, stating, “That is not who we are. That is not our way.”
