Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to rally around President Bola Tinubu to ensure the success of his administration. This plea comes amid rising living costs following the government’s decision to halt the fuel subsidy on petroleum products.
President Tinubu, who assumed office last May, has faced significant public pressure due to the soaring cost of living. Despite these challenges, Akpabio expressed optimism about the administration’s potential for transformative impact during the flag-off ceremony of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja.
“I have no doubt that by the time the president is through with his tenure in the country, seven years from today, many people will not recognize FCT, they will not recognize Nigeria again,” Akpabio stated on Tuesday. “So, all I can say is: let us continue to pray for him and be hopeful that the challenges you see today, tomorrow, you will see them no more.”
Akpabio highlighted that the commencement of the Kugbo Bus Terminal project underscores the government’s commitment to the welfare of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) residents. “This is for me another major wonder of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. This is a way to cater to a city of this nature. This is a way to cater to the people of the area councils, the FCT residents and visitors alike,” he remarked.
Furthermore, Akpabio praised President Tinubu for appointing Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the FCT. “I believe that you are a square peg in a square hole and I must thank the President for having the eyes to pinpoint those who can perform and bringing them,” he said, lauding Wike’s selection.
Describing the Kugbo Bus Terminal project as a crucial development, Akpabio noted its potential benefits, including traffic decongestion and improved security. He drew parallels with Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos State Governor, stating, “He did it in Lagos and today, Lagos is one of the best; one of the largest economies in Africa when we are talking about cities.”
