Senator Abdul Ningi resumes plenary after three-month suspension

The lawmaker representing Bauchi Central, Senator Abdul Ningi, has resumed his legislative duties in the upper chamber after serving eleven weeks of suspension.

Sen. Ningi who was suspended on March 12th, 2024 for three months over budget padding claims was recalled on May 28, after the Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, moved a motion for his recall last week.

Senator Moro pledged to assume full responsibility for his actions, acknowledging the gravity of the suspension.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, subsequently announced Ningi’s unconditional recall after pleas from some lawmakers.

In his remarks, Akpabio welcomed Ningi describing him as a valuable member of the Senate.

Ningi who resumed plenary on Tuesday, thanked his colleagues, the government of Bauchi state and Nigerians for their support during his suspension.
