Sergio Aguero slams ‘entitled’ Real Madrid over Ballon d’Or boycott

Former Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero,  has taken a shot at Real Madrid after the club’s absence from the Ballon d’Or presentation on Monday.

Real Madrid reportedly prohibited their officials from attending the celebration following leaks indicating that none of their players would win the trophy.

Despite Madrid being named Team of the Year and Carlo Ancelotti receiving Manager of the Year, no officials were present to accept the awards.

Following City’s Rodri winning the 2024 Ballon d’Or, some Madrid players took to social media, claiming their Brazilian teammate deserved the trophy more.

Aguero criticized the club for their “entitled” attitude and congratulated Rodri on his accomplishment.

“Well deserved. Rodri is the best player in the world,” Aguero said. “Football is for everyone, not just Real Madrid. They feel so entitled.”

Rodrigo Cascante Hernandez becomes Manchester City’s first Ballon d’Or winner and the first Spaniard to claim the honor since 1960.

His victory brings the trophy back to England for the first time since Cristiano Ronaldo won it with Manchester United in 2008.
