Seyi Law Praises Tinubu for Fuel Subsidy Removal Despite Hardships

Nigerian actor and comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, has commended President Bola Tinubu for the removal of the fuel subsidy, asserting that it will ultimately benefit the Nigerian populace.

While acknowledging the immediate hardships caused by this decision, Seyi Law expressed that the subsidy should have been eliminated much earlier. He pointed out that had the government acted in 2012, during Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency, Nigerians would have already overcome the associated challenges.

“Fuel subsidy should have been long gone. If it had been removed in 2012, we would have gone through the pain process, and by now we would have been healing,” he stated.

Reflecting on the protests against the subsidy in 2012, Seyi Law noted, “I was the only celebrity who went on stage to oppose the anti-fuel subsidy movement. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala mentioned that the nation could not afford to pay salaries and that we were borrowing to meet those obligations.”
