Six Dead in Oyo State Multi-Vehicle Accident

Six adult males have been confirmed dead following a multiple vehicle accident involving five vehicles in the Amuloko area of Ona-Ara Local Government Area, Oyo State.

The Oyo State Road Safety Command reported the incident on Monday, detailing the tragic event that occurred in the early hours at Oke-Elesin.

The collision involved two articulated trucks, a minibus, and two tricycles, all of which were significantly damaged. Eyewitness accounts suggest that one of the trucks, which was transporting tiles, lost control possibly due to brake failure and crashed into another truck carrying beverages. This initiated a chain reaction that involved the minibus and the tricycles.

According to the report signed by Sector Public Education Officer Mayowa Idewo, five other adult males sustained various injuries and have since been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The deceased have been taken to the morgue at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.

The Road Safety Command emphasized the importance of adhering to road safety rules to prevent avoidable accidents and loss of life.

Following the incident, security operatives, including members of Operation Burst, the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), the Police, Amotekun, and local vigilantes, have been deployed to manage the traffic congestion caused by the accident. Normalcy has since returned to the area.
