Sokoto to present N119bn supplementary budget to assembly

The Sokoto State Executive Council has approved a supplementary budget of N119 billion for submission to the state House of Assembly. Additionally, the council has allocated N17.9 billion specifically for road reconstruction projects across the state.

Following the Executive meeting on Wednesday, Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning Balarabe Kadadi explained that the supplementary budget includes funding from various sources such as NG-CARES, L-Press, Agile, Local Government palliative funds, Ecological funds, and Excess Crude Oil revenue. He stated, “The proposal will be presented to the state House of Assembly for approval.”

Kadadi further detailed that N11.8 billion has been allocated for the reconstruction of the 40.7-kilometer Illela-Gada road, while N3.2 billion is designated for the construction of the Wurno-Huchi road. In addition, N2.9 billion has been approved for the construction of the Romo bridge.

State Commissioner of Information Bello Dabchadi highlighted that these projects align with promises made by the Governor during local government tours and are crucial for the state’s economic development.

Furthermore, Commissioner for Religious Affairs Jabir Maihula announced that N156.7 million has been approved for the rehabilitation of the oldest Islamiyya school in the state.
