Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has confidently brushed aside any serious competition in the upcoming November 8, 2025, governorship election, stating that he has yet to see any formidable challengers.
Speaking during a media chat to mark his third year in office on Monday, Soludo expressed his firm belief that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has delivered exceptional governance, earning widespread support from the people of Anambra.
He emphasized that, while voters may support different parties in national elections, they remain deeply loyal to APGA when it comes to choosing their state and local government leadership.
“If there is an election, and I am a candidate, I will be on the ballot. But who else is running? Which party is fielding a candidate? So far, unless someone drops from the sky, I haven’t heard of any,” Soludo remarked with confidence.
The Governor acknowledged that many have encouraged him to seek a second term, but made it clear that the decision ultimately lies with his party, APGA. “The party must decide and give me the platform,” he explained. “I didn’t apply for this job by accident; I did so intentionally, to serve and give back to God by leaving Anambra better than I found it.”
He further expressed that if his party nominates him and the people of Anambra graciously renew his mandate, it would be both an honor and privilege to continue serving.
Anambra, along with seven other states, will hold its off-cycle governorship election in 2025 due to court rulings.
