Super Eagles triumph over Rwanda to boost World Cup chances.

Victor Osimhen netted a brace in the first half during the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, significantly boosting Nigeria’s chances of reaching the competition.

The Super Eagles had previously struggled against the Amavubi in Kigali, failing to secure a win in their last three encounters. In 2006, Nigeria was held to a 1-1 draw with Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in a World Cup qualifier.

In 2011, the teams fought to a 0-0 draw at the Stade Regional de Nyamirambo during a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

In September last year, they again drew 0-0 in an AFCON 2025 qualifying match at the Amahoro Stadium.

However, Osimhen’s first-half double finally broke the curse, securing the Super Eagles’ first win in the qualifiers and earning them three crucial points.
