Teenager Killed in Niger Violent Gang Clash

A violent clash between groups of miscreants from the Gurgudu area of Maitumbi and Kwari-Berger in Minna, Niger State, has led to the death of a 15-year-old boy, Saidu Ubu.

Ubu, a resident of Gurgudu was killed on Saturday at approximately 11:30 PM during the fight.

According to eyewitnesses, the conflict began as a confrontation between the two rival groups and quickly escalated into a violent skirmish, causing panic among residents in the area.

Upon receiving a distress call, a police patrol team from Maitumbi Division promptly moved to the scene of the incident. However, the miscreants fled upon sighting the police, leaving behind the injured victim.

Ubu was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, however, was unfortunately pronounced dead by the medical personnel.

His death has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing concerns about the rising activities of hoodlums in the area.

In a swift response, the Niger State Police Command launched a follow-up sting operation in the area, resulting in the arrest of five suspects believed to be connected to the incident.

The arrested individuals are currently undergoing interrogation, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.

The police have assured the public that thorough investigations will be conducted to unravel the cause of the clash and bring all those responsible to justice.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with the police by providing any useful information that could assist in the investigation.

The tragic death of Saidu Ubu serves as a grim reminder of the need for proactive measures to address the menace of youth violence and gang activities in Niger State.

The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in the state.
