There is No Cause for Alarm, Dangote Group Reacts to Fire Incident

The Dangote Group has assured that there is no cause for alarm despite the fire incident that occurred at the refinery.

The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina gave this assurance in statement sent to Vanguard on Wednesday, June 26.

It was reported that a fire outbreak occurred at the Dangote refinery in Lagos the commercial capital of the nation today on Wednesday, June 26. It was also reported that the fire was immediately put out as fire fighters and first responders swiftly rose to the occasion.

In a statement, spokesman for the company, Anthony Chiejina, said to journalist that operations at the refinery was not affected in anyway.

Chiejina said: “We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)”

He added that there is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all the staff on duty.

“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating normally, and there are no recorded injuries or bodily harm to any of our staff on duty.”

The Dangote petroleum refinery commenced production of diesel and aviation fuel on Friday, January 12.

The newly launched 650,000 barrels per day capacity refinery was inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2023, after receiving six shipments of crude.
