President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed key figures from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to head various federal agencies and organizations. Among the new appointments, Abdullahi Ganduje, Chairman of the APC, was named Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), while Senator Bashiru Ajibola, APC’s National Secretary, will lead the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).

The appointments were officially announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement on Friday. According to the statement, President Tinubu also appointed leaders to 42 other federal bodies, including the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company, where former Kebbi State Deputy Governor Sulaiman Argungu will serve as Chairman, and the National Agency for Great Green Wall, where former Senator Magnus Abe was appointed Chairman.

In addition, Tinubu appointed Kayode Isiak Opeifa as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and Raji Kazeem Kolawole as Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).

The President urged all the newly appointed board chairpersons to avoid interfering in the daily operations of the agencies, emphasizing that their roles are non-executive in nature. The appointments take effect immediately.

The full list of appointments includes leaders for various other critical organizations, such as the Nigerian Postal Service, the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, and several federal teaching hospitals.

In his statement, Onanuga said that the appointments reflect Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening key sectors of Nigeria’s governance structure.
