The governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Ondo State, Abass Mimiko, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will remain impartial and not interfere in the ongoing election.
Speaking after casting his vote at Yaba, Unit 20, Ward 7, in Ondo West Local Government Area, Mimiko, who is the younger brother of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, stated that he trusts the president to be just and neutral despite his party affiliation.
“I have supreme confidence in President Bola Tinubu that he will not be partial,” Mimiko said. “He will be just and neutral, regardless of his party affiliation. It is now up to the people of Ondo State to decide that they want good leadership.”
Mimiko also criticized the current leadership, saying that despite increased allocations, the government’s actions were not translating into meaningful development for the people. “The leaders are not turning the president’s vision into actionable plans for Nigerians,” he added. “Allocations are doubled, but they are not resulting in tangible progress.”
The ZLP candidate commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their handling of the election process, expressing optimism that the results would favor his party.
In a separate development, an octogenarian, Olu Akinbodun, raised concerns about the late arrival of electoral officials at his polling unit.
The 85-year-old Akinbodun, who came out to cast his vote and contribute to the state’s progress, said the delay could discourage people from exercising their right to vote.
