Tinubu’s foreign travels not wasteful like past presidents – Shehu Sani

Former Nigerian senator Shehu Sani has praised President Bola Tinubu’s foreign trips, stating that they have been productive and unlike the wasteful travels of past Nigerian leaders.

Sani emphasized that Tinubu’s visits to countries like Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa have led to tangible economic benefits for Nigeria.

In a post on his X account on Monday, Sani expressed particular enthusiasm over Brazil’s $4.2 billion grant aimed at boosting Nigeria’s agricultural sector, which will be distributed across the country’s local governments.

“The history of presidential foreign travels in Nigeria has often been marked by wastefulness, but this time there is a clear and positive difference,” Sani wrote. “The President’s visits to Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa have brought verifiable economic gains to the country. I’m especially excited about Brazil’s $4.2 billion grant for agriculture.”

Sani concluded, “It’s fine to travel and return with something significant; what’s not acceptable is to travel and return with nothing.”
