Tinubu’s reforms will earn him favourable place in history – Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will be favorably remembered by history, citing his commitment to Nigeria’s progress and governance, which he approaches with a sense of divine responsibility.

During the Ministerial Press Briefing Session in Abuja on Thursday, Idris emphasized that while the ongoing reforms under President Tinubu are challenging, they are essential to reposition the country for long-term stability and development.

“We have crossed the Rubicon, and the pains are gradually subsiding as the positive effects of these reforms begin to show. We are already seeing a reduction in food prices, stability in exchange rates, and a gradual decline in petroleum product costs—clear signs that the policies are starting to yield results,” Idris stated.

He acknowledged that transformative reforms often face resistance due to the immediate hardships they bring but emphasized that they are necessary for the nation’s future progress.

“Throughout history, meaningful reforms have never been easy. They require sacrifice, resilience, and a focus on long-term progress. The initial difficulties are the price we must pay for a more stable and prosperous future,” the minister explained.

Idris also expressed appreciation for Nigerians’ patience and support, urging religious leaders to use the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent to pray for the country’s peace, security, and development. “I appeal to our Muslim and Christian leaders to continue praying for Nigeria. With unity, faith, and collective effort, we will emerge stronger and more resilient,” he said.

At the briefing, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, also highlighted the achievements of their respective ministries, showcasing their contributions to the administration’s efforts in driving national development.
