Tragedy As 25 Killed, 53 Injured In Kano-Zaria Road Crash

It was a gloomy Monday for the people of Kano and Kaduna states in North-West Nigeria, when a vehicle disaster at the Dangwaro Flyover on the famed Kano-Zaria vehicle killed 25 people and wounded 53 others.

The sad incident, which happened at about 3:30 am, was verified by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS1.2 Kano Sector Command.

A trailer (IVECO) with the registration number KMC 311 ZB was involved in the collision; it was reportedly overspeeding that caused the loss of control. Ninety individuals were in the trailer, meaning there were a lot of deaths and serious injuries.

Luckily, 12 individuals were saved without any injuries.

According to Sector Commander CC Ibrahim Abdullahi, “Preliminary investigations suggest that the probable cause of the crash was due to overspeeding and loss of control by the driver of the trailer.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other emergency response agencies worked together to swiftly launch rescue efforts.

Six motorbikes, ten cell phones, livestock (goats and rams), corn, and four thousand naira were among the items found at the site. Police are now holding the things.

According to CRC Abdullahi Labaran, SPEO/PRO FRSC RS1.2 Kano Sector Command, “all victims of the road traffic crash have been swiftly transported to Murtala Specialist Hospital Kano for urgent medical attention.

Sector Commander Ibrahim Abdullahi has issued a severe warning to drivers and motorists in light of the tragedy.

He emphasized, “Transporting people, goods, and animals at the same time is a dangerous practice that not only puts lives in danger but also violates traffic laws intended to maintain road safety.”

In order to stop such tragedies on Nigerian roads, the FRSC advised all users of the road to carefully follow traffic rules and regulations.
