Trossard to be available for Arsenal’s next Premier League game despite red card

Leandro Trossard will be available for selection in Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday against Leicester City, despite incurring a red card against Manchester City.

Before the half, Michael Oliver sent Trossard out for a second yellow card after he had kicked the ball away following a foul on Portuguese international Bernardo Silva over the weekend.

The Belgian was sent off for delaying a restart, and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) verified the event.

However, it was reported that Trossard told his teammates in the dressing room that he did not hear the whistle, noting that he wanted to pass to his teammate.

Since Trossard’s sending-off was a result of two yellow cards, he will only be suspended for one game, which is applicable to all English competitions without the opportunity for appeal – and with the Gunners hosting Bolton in the third round of the EFL Cup later tonight, Trossard’s absence would mean that he has served his one-match suspension, hence available for selection in his side’s next Premier League game.

Declan Rice had earlier received a second yellow card for the same offence in Arsenal’s third Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion this season
