Trump Announces Agreement for Negotiations to End Ukraine War with Putin

US President Donald Trump has revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to initiate negotiations to end the ongoing war in Ukraine, marking a significant development in international diplomacy. The announcement came after a telephone call between the two leaders on Wednesday, which Trump described as “lengthy and highly productive.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared that both leaders had agreed to immediately begin discussions, with their respective teams starting negotiations to bring an end to the nearly three-year conflict. Trump emphasized that both he and Putin were committed to halting the devastating war, which has caused millions of deaths.
“We want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine,” Trump wrote, adding that Putin had even referenced Trump’s campaign motto, “COMMON SENSE,” during their conversation.
The US negotiating team, according to Trump, will include key figures such as Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State; John Ratcliffe, the Director of the CIA; Michael Waltz, the National Security Adviser; and Steve Witkoff, Ambassador and Special Envoy. Trump expressed confidence that these negotiations could succeed and mentioned that he and Putin had also agreed to visit each other’s countries in the future.
However, the Ukrainian government has raised concerns about the proposed negotiations, particularly regarding the condition that would exclude the possibility of US troops being deployed to Ukraine during the discussions. This has added a layer of complexity to the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
