Trump Announces Immigration Official Tom Homan as ‘Border Czar’

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has announced that former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan will return to the administration to oversee the country’s borders. Trump made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, calling Homan a “stalwart on Border Control.”

“I am pleased to announce that the former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (‘The Border Czar’),” Trump wrote. “I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our borders.”

In his new role, Homan will be tasked with overseeing “all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin,” according to Trump. The 78-year-old Republican has vowed to launch the largest deportation operation in U.S. history on his first day in office, a central promise of his campaign.

Throughout his campaign, Trump repeatedly criticized undocumented immigrants, using aggressive rhetoric that framed them as a threat to the nation’s security and culture, calling them “poison to the blood” of the United States. Homan’s appointment signals a continuation of Trump’s hardline stance on immigration, with a focus on increasing deportations and enforcing stricter border controls.
