Trump’s ‘Dead’ Threat to Gaza Undermines Ceasefire, Says Hamas

Hamas has stated that Donald Trump’s threats would prompt Israel to disregard the fragile ceasefire, following the former U.S. president’s warning that unless hostages are released, the people of Gaza would be “DEAD.”
Trump’s statement came shortly after his administration disclosed that it had held direct talks with Hamas—whom it designates as a “terrorist” organization—focused on securing the release of American hostages held in Gaza.
In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that Israel was consulted about these talks and had expressed its views. Trump later emphasized his support for Israel, stating he was “sending Israel everything it needs to finish the job” as his administration accelerated the shipment of billions of dollars in weaponry.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform, demanding the immediate release of all hostages and the return of the bodies of those killed by Hamas, warning that failure to comply would lead to dire consequences. “This is your last warning! For the leadership, now is the time to leave Gaza, while you still have a chance,” he wrote.
He also threatened Gaza’s population as a whole, saying, “To the People of Gaza: A beautiful future awaits, but not if you hold hostages. If you do, you are DEAD.”
In reaction, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasim argued that Trump’s remarks would likely encourage Israel to violate the ceasefire, which has been in place since January 19, 2025.
