Two Dead and 15 Injured in Accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of two people and injuries to 15 others in a single-vehicle accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State. The accident occurred on Thursday at 4:34 p.m. near Saapade.

According to the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, the crash was caused by a tyre burst, which led to the driver losing control of the bus. The vehicle subsequently somersaulted and crashed.

There were 18 people on board the bus, including nine men, five women, two boys, and two girls. Of these, 15 people sustained injuries, consisting of eight men, four women, two boys, and one girl. Unfortunately, two passengers—one man and one woman—died in the accident.

The injured victims were transported to PATMAG Hospital in Ogere for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the State General Hospital morgue in Isara.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun State, Akinwunmi Fasakin, urged motorists to exercise caution and ensure their vehicles are in good condition, especially during periods of high traffic movement, to avoid similar incidents.
