Two Injured as Commercial Bus Rams into Curvet in Lagos

Two individuals have sustained injuries following a road accident that occurred in front of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) headquarters in Lagos. According to a statement issued by the agency on Wednesday, the unfortunate incident took place after a commercial bus experienced a brake failure.

The accident occurred on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, specifically in the area leading towards Oshodi Oke, right in front of the LASTMA office. The statement explained that the bus, unable to stop due to the brake failure, collided with a culvert, resulting in two victims being injured.

“We regret to report this sad incident that happened in front of LASTMA HQ, heading towards Oshodi Oke on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. A commercial bus had a brake failure and rammed into the culvert, causing injuries to two individuals. These victims are currently being attended to and will be transported to a nearby hospital for treatment,” LASTMA shared through its official X handle.

The agency also assured the public that its personnel are already on the scene to ensure order is maintained and to help alleviate the resulting traffic congestion. LASTMA officials are working to manage the situation and clear the traffic backlog caused by the accident, aiming to restore normalcy as quickly as possible.

“We have deployed our officers to the location to control the traffic and ensure that the situation remains as calm as possible while efforts are made to move the injured victims to safety,” the statement added.
