U.S, Ukraine Officials in New Saudi Talks, no Breakthrough with Russia

The United States and Ukraine held brief talks in Saudi Arabia, a day after US-Russia negotiations aimed at halting the fighting in Ukraine ended without any breakthroughs. US President Donald Trump is advocating for a quick end to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began over three years ago, and hopes that the latest round of talks in Riyadh will lead to a ceasefire.
Earlier this month, Kyiv accepted a US-proposed unconditional ceasefire, but Moscow rejected it, with Ukraine and its European allies accusing Russia of not seeking peace. The discussions between Ukrainian and American officials took place after hours of US-Russia talks that produced no progress on a truce.
In Moscow, Russian authorities stated that the details of their talks with the US would not be made public, as they were still analyzing the outcome of the negotiations. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed, “The content of these talks will definitely not be publicized.”
While the Kremlin indicated that contacts with Washington would continue, no specific date was set for another meeting. It was also reported that Russia had no intention of agreeing to a truce at this stage.
