UAE introduces remote work system for federal employees abroad to attract global talent

The UAE government has introduced a new system that allows federal employees to work remotely from abroad, aiming to attract international talent for government projects and specialized tasks.
This initiative was announced during a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as reported by Gulf News.
The move is designed to draw global expertise to contribute to various government projects, studies, and specialized tasks. By enabling remote work, the UAE can hire professionals with skills that may not be readily available locally, breaking down geographical barriers and expanding the pool of expertise for critical government work.
During the Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of leveraging international talent to enhance the country’s government operations. This initiative provides professionals outside the UAE with an opportunity to contribute to the nation’s objectives, further strengthening the UAE’s position in global governance.
In addition to this, the Cabinet also approved a six-year national investment strategy aimed at more than doubling foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows by 2031.
The strategy seeks to increase annual FDI from Dh 112 billion in 2023 to Dh 240 billion by 2031 and raise the total stock of foreign investments in the UAE from Dh 800 billion to Dh 2.2 trillion.
