Udeze Faults Peseiro for Changing Formation in AFCON Final
Ifeanyi Udeze, a former Nigeria international, criticised Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro for starting Samuel Chukwueze in Sunday’s AFCON final.
Chukwueze was selected ahead of Moses Simon in the starting lineup for the final against the hosts.
Unfortunately, it was his second start in the competition; he had a poor game and had to be replaced by Simon early in the second half.
Despite taking the lead through Captain William Troost-Ekong, the Ivorians fought back to win 2-1 and claim their third AFCON title.
“Starting Samuel Chukwueze against Côte d’Ivoire was a mistake,” Udeze said on Brila FM.
“You don’t change a winning team, the Ivory Coast coach made use of the same formation from the semi-final, so I don’t know why Peseiro decided to change his.”
The former left-back went on to praise the Eagles for reaching the final
He added:”Let’s appreciate the Eagles because they did their best after all one team must win and one team must lose.“
