US election 2024: Nigeria Felicitates With Trump As President
Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu has congratulated Donald Trump on winning the US presidential election.
The election of a new president is not just a big deal for the US as a new leader in the White House can transform the country’s foreign policy and its position towards its friends and foes internationally.
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, had secured at least the 270 Electoral College votes needed to return to the White House for a second time after his 2017-2021 term.
Trump, 78, defeated his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, 60, after a hard-fought campaign.
In its congratulatory message, the Spokesperson of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, in a Statement wished the 47th President of the United States of America great success in steering the affairs of the country and further assured of continued support and cooperation in matters of international peace and security.
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria applauds the Democratic contestant, Kamala Harris, for her efforts and contributions during her tenure as the Vice President of the United States of America.
“In the same vein, Nigeria also applauds outgoing President, Joe Biden, for his leadership and service to the American people,” the Statement noted.
