US Warns Of Response To Iranian Missile Attack
Israel has vowed to retaliate against Iran following a missile barrage that targeted its territory.
Iranian state media reported that around 200 missiles were fired, including hypersonic weapons, aimed at military installations near Tel Aviv and other locations. While most missiles were intercepted by Israeli air defenses, two individuals were reported injured by shrapnel, and in Jericho, a Palestinian was killed by debris from the rockets.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran’s response is complete unless Israel provokes further retaliation. This missile attack was described by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards as a response to Israel’s recent assassinations of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
In support of Israel, President Joe Biden indicated that the U.S. is “fully supportive” and mentioned ongoing discussions regarding the response to Iran.
Israel has committed to striking back powerfully in the region, emphasizing that Iran will “pay” for the attack.
This marks Iran’s second direct assault on Israel this year, following a previous attack in April.
