Usyk, Fury Rematch Confirmed for 21st December

The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury is set on December 21 in Saudi Arabia.

This much awaited fight comes after Fury’s first professional loss earlier this month in Riyadh, where Usyk prevailed by split decision to claim the title of undisputed heavyweight champion.

With his win, Usyk became the first unified heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, holding the titles of the IBF, WBO, WBA, and WBC.

Despite the loss, Fury felt he had done enough to win the fight. However, two out of the three judges favored Usyk, particularly after he landed a powerful overhand left in the ninth round, leading referee Mark Nelson to deliver a standing count against Fury.

Initially, Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, had expressed doubts about a rematch, suggesting that Fury might consider retirement.

However, Saudi Arabia’s sports authorities have now confirmed that the rematch will indeed take place at the end of this year.
