We Have Subdued Terrorists in Kebbi, Zamfara – Army

The Commander of One Brigade, Nigerian Army, Gusau, has announced that the troops of One Brigade, Brigadier General Timothy Opurum operating under Operation Fansar Yamma, have made significant strides in reducing terrorist activities in their area of responsibility, which includes Kebbi and Zamfara states.

General Opurum made this statement on Tuesday evening during a Sallah luncheon with officers, soldiers, and their families at the Brigade Cantonment in Gusau. He acknowledged that the security situation had been challenging in the past, but emphasized that through continuous military operations and the dedication of the troops, the army has successfully established control over the region, significantly curtailing terrorist activities.

“The One Brigade has been performing well, especially with the ongoing Operation Forest Sanity III. A few months ago, the situation was much tougher, but thanks to the tireless efforts of our troops and officers, we have managed to dominate our area of responsibility and subdue the terrorists to a great extent,” General Opurum stated.

He commended the troops for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment, highlighting that, in recognition of their efforts, the Chief of Army Staff has approved additional logistics support to further enhance their operations. He urged the soldiers to maintain their focus and continue their efforts to secure all states in the Northwest region, ensuring peace and fostering economic development.

“Because of the progress we’ve made, the Chief of Army Staff has graciously approved additional logistics to support our operations. This means that with more resources, we must increase our efforts. We are not there yet; there is still much work to be done,” he added. “We must continue fighting until all enemies of the state are eliminated, ensuring that Zamfara, Kebbi, and all other states in the Northwest region are safe and secure for socio-economic progress.”

The event also included a moment of silence to honor fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
