We’ll Unseat You In 2027, Wike Tells Senator Kingibe

Minister of the federal capital territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike says Ireti Kingibe, senator representing the nation’s capital, will not be reelected in 2027.

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mabushi bus terminal building on Monday in Abuja, Wike gave a speech.

“We have performed well if we have. We haven’t performed well if we haven’t. We have performed admirably in the little period that President Tinubu has had us,” Wike declared.

You mentioned that there are no hospitals or schools. As a lawmaker, what actions have you taken? How many bills have you supported to strengthen our health and education systems?

“I take the lawmaker to task. Come run under Abuja in 2027 if you are highly popular; we will let you down.

Do you believe that the previous incident will recur? That won’t take place once more. Come on and run if you are popular. I am fortunate enough to be the FCT minister at this time. Thus, this is my domain, and I have no fear.

“Truth should be able to be accepted by others. We are not pleading with anyone to be friends with us. We are unable to even carry all of our pals with us. How then can we approach folks and ask them to become friends? That doesn’t pique our attention.

Senator Kingibe is yet to comment on the matter as of now.

Wike, Kingibe Face-Off

Kingibe, a Labour Party (LP) member, had defeated Philip Aduda, a Wike ally in the 2023 election, to become the senator representing the FCT.

Since then, Wike and Kingibe have been at loggerheads with the senator accusing the FCT minister of sidelining her despite representing the capital territory.

Wike had claimed that Kingibe’s attacks on him were because she was not appointed as the chairperson of the Senate Committee on the FCT.

Amid the insecurity affecting the capital city, Senator Kingibe accused Wike of not taking her calls. She later accused him of not having the interest of FCT residents at heart.
