He reiterated that the federal government is open to communication with the demonstrators. Additionally, he said that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is doing appropriately to lessen Nigerians’ suffering.
This is as protesters in some states across the country took to the streets on Thursday, to protest against hunger and hardship.
However, despite the traction gained by the protest, some states have ignored the protests, and are going about their businesses as usual.
it was reported that youths in Bayelsa State disregarded the protest, which led to the state governor Douye Diri praising them.
He praised the Bayelsa youths for heeding his call to abstain from the protests, emphasising that their choice reflected a commitment to peace and stability in the state.
Governor Diri expressed concerns over the origins of the protest activities, alleging that they were being instigated by political figures who lost in the 2023 governorship election. According to him, these politicians were leveraging the nationwide unrest to foment chaos in Bayelsa.
