Wike revokes PDP national secretariat land

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocation for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat located in Abuja. The revocation notice, issued on March 13, 2025, was signed by the Director of Land Administration (FCT), Chijioke Nwankwoeze, and addressed to the PDP.

The notice explains that the PDP has failed to pay the annual ground rent for the property for a period of 20 years, from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025. Despite several notices in national newspapers and electronic media urging the party to settle its outstanding bills, the PDP did not comply.

The letter states: “I have been directed to refer to the above Right of Occupancy granted to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Secretariat, and inform you that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, in the exercise of powers conferred on him under the Land Use Act No. 6 of 1978, Cap. L5, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, has revoked your rights, interests, and privileges over Plot No. 243 within Central Area, Cadastral Zone A00, Abuja.”

The revocation was made in response to the PDP’s continued failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the land grant, specifically the non-payment of the ground rent for two decades. The letter further cited the PDP’s breach of Section 28, Subsections 5(a) and (b) of the Land Use Act.

Minister Wike concluded the notice by stating that the FCTA administration will take immediate possession of the PDP secretariat until all outstanding payments are made.
