Wike under fire over ongoing construction in FCT

Residents of Aso Garden Estate in Maitama, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have expressed urgent concerns about structural damage to their homes caused by ongoing construction activities initiated by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The residents have reported significant cracks in walls, compromised foundations, and other safety hazards due to heavy vibrations from the construction site.

In a petition addressed to the minister, which was shared with newsmen on Sunday by Nurain Abayomi Mumuni, representing the estate’s chairman, the community raised their concerns about the lack of prior notification or consultation before the construction began.

The petition highlighted the anxiety many residents are experiencing due to the potential risks to their properties. Mumuni urged Minister Wike to intervene by assessing the impact of the construction on the estate and ensuring that necessary precautions and regulations are followed.

He emphasized the importance of involving the residents in discussions about developments that directly affect their community. Mumuni also requested a meeting between the relevant authorities, construction management, and residents to address the issues in detail.
