Yahaya Bello Presents Self To EFCC

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) once again, responding to an invitation regarding allegations of misappropriation of funds during his tenure as governor.

Bello visited the EFCC office on Tuesday, accompanied by his lawyers, but not by the current Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo. He reportedly drove himself to the EFCC office in a black Hilux.

This appearance follows a Supreme Court ruling that dismissed a challenge regarding the constitutionality of the EFCC, allowing the agency to proceed with its investigation into Bello’s alleged financial misconduct.

Previously, there had been speculations that Bello would visit the EFCC, although his media aides had not responded to inquiries. The EFCC had previously sought an adjournment during a November 14 hearing in the case, requesting additional time for the 1st Defendant (Bello) to appear, while his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, were granted administrative bail.
