Yobe State Governor Distributes Over N2.9 Billion to Flood Victims and Small Business Owners

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has allocated a total of N2,936,000,000.00 to provide relief for 25,500 flood victims and vulnerable individuals in the state, as part of his ongoing recovery and empowerment initiatives.

The funds, which were presented during a ceremony at the Government House Banquet Hall in Damaturu, aim to support those affected by national disasters and enhance the livelihoods of small business owners in the state.

Governor Buni explained that the financial assistance would be distributed in two key initiatives. The first initiative, designed to support flood victims and vulnerable groups, involves an investment of ₦1.43 billion. Each of the 25,500 beneficiaries will receive ₦50,000 to help rebuild their lives and restore stability.

The second initiative focuses on empowering small business owners and entrepreneurs. In recognition of the significant role that nano and small businesses play in driving local economic growth, the governor has disbursed ₦1.5 billion to support 15,000 small business owners. Each entrepreneur will receive ₦100,000 to help boost their business and sustain their livelihoods. This brings the total financial support to more than N2.9 billion.

“The occasion marks the launch of two transformative initiatives to support our people: financial assistance for flood victims and entrepreneurs, reflecting our administration’s guiding principles of protecting the vulnerable, empowering citizens, and creating pathways to self-reliance and prosperity,” Governor Buni said.

He emphasized that the initiatives were aimed at addressing immediate recovery needs while laying the foundation for long-term economic resilience in the state. The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to free education, affordable healthcare, technological development, and economic incentives to empower the less privileged.

Governor Buni assured that his government would provide the necessary support for the establishment of an Early Childcare Development Education Centre in the state. He further reiterated his administration’s dedication to transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the implementation of all intervention programs.

This initiative underscores the governor’s focus on fostering economic growth, financial inclusion, and the well-being of Yobe State’s most vulnerable populations.
