Zamfara govt disowns document alleging payment of huge funds to bandits

The Zamfara State Government has firmly rejected allegations that it has engaged in financial dealings with bandit leaders. Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Abubakar Nakwada condemned documents circulating on social media that suggest the state had allocated significant funds to bandit leaders as part of dialogue efforts. He described these documents as “fake, mischievous, misleading, malicious, and false.”

Nakwada clarified that the documents, which falsely bear his signature and those of other senior officials, are forgeries. He assured that security agencies have been informed and are actively investigating the source of these documents.

The SSG also addressed claims that money was paid to media promoters under the guise of “reconciliation efforts” from the state Security Trust Fund. He emphasized that these claims are baseless and intended to mislead the public.

The state government, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, remains steadfast in its stance against negotiating with bandits and terrorists.

Nakwada reiterated that the administration is committed to combating criminality with integrity and accountability, and that the fabricated documents are merely attempts to undermine public trust in the government’s efforts to restore peace and security in Zamfara.
