Zelensky Set to Visit UK for High-Level Talks with Keir Starmer and European Leaders

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to visit the United Kingdom this weekend for crucial talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other European leaders, a source familiar with the matter confirmed on Wednesday. The discussions are set to focus on defense and security issues, with French President Emmanuel Macron also expected to attend.
Zelensky, in a press conference earlier on Wednesday, confirmed his plans for the trip, revealing that after a visit to Washington, he would travel to London for talks with Starmer and European leaders. “I plan to go to London, and immediately after this, I and the Europeans will meet there with Keir Starmer,” he stated.
US President Donald Trump, during his cabinet meeting on Wednesday, also confirmed Zelensky’s visit to Washington on Friday, where further discussions are expected to take place.
Meanwhile, Starmer is set to fly to the US on Thursday for his own talks with President Trump. Starmer’s mission is to secure security guarantees for Ukraine in the context of any potential ceasefire with Russia. His diplomatic challenge lies in balancing support for Kyiv while maintaining relations with Trump, who has surprised European allies by pursuing direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Macron, who met with Trump in Washington earlier this week, will join the talks in London on Sunday, as confirmed by the French president’s office.
